Both Comitiva and Chinatown are bounded by two esteros or brooks that feed into the Pasig River: Estero sobre Binondo to the west and Estero de su Reina to the east. Architectural Gems of Comitiva: Manila’s Timeless Heritage
The Compania developed when Binondo, beginning in the last quarter of the 19th century, became Manila’s premier business district. Binondo experienced commercial and economic growth with stores and business offices of British, American, German, and French companies opening there.
